In January, 2025, longtime member Lamar Marshall rotated off NCTOTA’s Board of Directors, while Angelina Jumper and Rob Tiger began new terms. We appreciate all that Lamar has done and continues to do, and thank Angelina and Rob for their willingness to serve on the Board!

 Lamar Marshall is Research Director for Southeast Heritage. He founded the non-profit conservation organization Wild South. His background includes 24 years in industrial engineering, land surveying and mapping, and over 40 years identifying Southeastern Indian trails including Trail of Tears routes. Marshall worked closely with the Tribal Historic Preservation Office (THPO) and the Cherokee Preservation Foundation for about 10 years gathering rare archives, maps and surveys documenting and field truthing historic trails. He is a founding member of the Nikwasi Initiative, a cultural corridor that highlights the Cherokee and early settler history of the Little Tennessee and Tuckasegee Rivers from Cherokee, NC, to Franklin, NC. He currently resides in Cowee Valley, Macon County, with his wife Kathleen. 

 Angelina Jumper is a proud enrolled member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee and currently serves as the Cultural Resources Supervisor for the tribe. In her role at the Junaluska Museum, she is responsible for managing archival inventories, conducting research on Cherokee resistance, and contributing to the design development of the museum’s upcoming expansion. Angelina began her academic journey at Georgia State University before pursuing a graduate program in Cherokee Studies at Western Carolina University. She is deeply passionate about preserving and sharing the rich culture and history of the Cherokee people in Western North Carolina. Angelina resides in the Snowbird Community with her Boston Terrier, Gene.

 Rob Tiger is the 4^th generation owner of Tiger’s Store in Hayesville, NC. Rob graduated from Western Carolina University (WCU) in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science in Social Science, Anthropology/Archaeology. He is an active volunteer in the community, having served on boards for numerous organizations including the Clay County Historical Arts Council, Hinton Rural Life Center, Southern Highroads Association / Southern Highroads Trail, Handmade in America, Clay County Communities Revitalization Association, Peacock Performing Arts Center, and Byron Colter Leadership Council. Rob has received several honors including the Governor’s Volunteer Award, Outstanding Service Award, Clay County Volunteer of the Year, WCU Distinguished Alumni Award, and WCU Mountain Heritage Award.
