A ribbon cutting was held for Red Clay State Park’s new artificial intelligence (AI) exhibit during the 27th Annual National Trail of Tears Conference. According to The Cherokee One Feather, “The exhibit features an AI portrayal of Rebecca Neugin, a Cherokee girl who was 3-years-old when she walked the Trail of Tears. 

A descendant of Neugin, Gabriela French, a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians from Elawodi (Yellowhill), was used to portray Rebecca, who is shown at age 9, for imagery and audio. Visitors have a chance to hear Rebecca’s story and may also ask her questions. Several Neugin descendants were on hand for the ribbon cutting including Randy French, Jerico French, and Landon French, Gabriela’s father.”
