NCTOTA President Sue Abram gave a short history of the Trail of Tears Association and how Mary Ann Thompson had successfully advocated for NC’s inclusion in the Trail of Tears National Historic Trail.

Other founding members honored included Ginger Abernathy and Grace Hawkins. Dianne Wells presented the honorees, including Mary Ann’s family, with tokens of the Chapter’s appreciation for their selfless service
